 Jeanne Sigle

1933 – 2016

Jeanne SigleOlney, MD – Jeanne Sigle, 83, of Olney, Maryland died Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at Medstar Montgomery Medical Center.

She was born February 15, 1933 in Struthers, OH, a daughter of Roy R. Shall and Ruth Curtis Shall. A former resident of Hubbard, Jeanne attended Struthers High School and Miami University. She served in the United States Navy ROC in 1952. Jeanne was a member of Hubbard’s Methodist Church and also Vienna Church of Christ. 

She married Gordon Weldon Sigle on June 19, 1954. Together they had six daughters who are left to cherish her memory. Surviving are Barbara Ellen Robinson, Jeannette A. Bailey-Sigle, Marilyn E. (George) Follmer, Carolyn R. (Edward) Warvel, Virginia Ann Sigle and Patricia Wayerski.

Jeanne is predeceased by her husband, Gordon, who died December 11, 2004. Also, a son-in-law, Gary Dewaine, a brother, Russell Shall, and three sisters, Isabelle Comstock, Jane O’Neil and Ruth E. Shall. 

Services will be held in the Mausoleum Chapel of the Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna, OH on Saturday, November 19. Viewing will be from 1 pm until  2 pm with Pastor Alex Robinson conducting the funeral service at 2:00.

The family requests material contributions to be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Selby – T.J. Fox Funeral Home in Vienna, OH.




James F. Walker

1934 – 2016

James F. WalkerHermitage- James F. Walker, 82, died Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Sharon Regional Hospital.

He was born October 21, 1934 in McConnelsville, OH, son of Joseph and Priscilla Walker.

James was a 1952 graduate of  Philo High School. After his service in the United States Navy he was employed by Haliburton Services for 25 years as a Field Supervisor, retiring in 1986.

James was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and sports. He was a great storyteller who enjoyed road trips with his friends. He was an inspiring mentor to his boys and especially enjoyed his time spent with all of his grandchildren.

James married Rosa L. (Bryan) Walker on September 20, 1958. Together they had three sons who are left  to cherish his memory, John R. (Danielle) Walker, Jerry L. (Heidi) Walker, and Doak (Helen) Walker. Also surviving are three brothers, John, Donald and Phillip Walker and four sisters, Mary McConnel, Alice Moran, Ruth Riddle, and Joyce Englebert, ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Rosa who died January 27, 2008, by one son, and by brothers Joseph and William Walker.

Services will be held in the Mausoleum Chapel at the Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna, OH. Calling hours for James are being held Thursday evening, November 17, from 5 pm to 7 pm. Viewing will be Friday, November 18, 2016, from noon until 1pm followed by a one o’clock funeral service with Pastor Kenneth D. Ogg officiating.

Mary F. Carr

1934 – 2016

Mary F. CarrSouthington – Mary F. Carr, 82, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016 at the Windsor House in Champion, OH. Mary was born October 21, 1934 in Confluence, PA to William M. Lohr and Helen L. Tressler Lohr. 

She was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School, Class of 1952.  Mary was employed by River Pines Resort in Parkman, OH as an office clerk and was a member of the Southington Christian Church. 

She enjoyed Stephen King novels, her plants and traveling on day trips. She listened to Audio books and would never turn down a chocolate bar. She watched old movies and especially loved going to church. Her strong faith was evident in her day to day life. She had a kind word for everyone. Her relationship with her family was most important to her, being considered the best friend that her children could have. The great love she had for her children included the joy she shared with their children’s children. Family was everything to her.

Mary married Robert J. (Bud) Carr on December 31, 1952 and they remained together until his death on October 12, 1981.

She leaves seven children behind to cherish her memory. Surviving are Frances (Jack) Rex, Sylvia (Billy) Jackson, Ellen (Robert) Harclerode, Robert (Heidi) Carr, Martha Molnar, Barbara Humphreys and James (Marilyn) Carr, twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Crown Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel on Saturday, November 19. There will be one hour of viewing from 10 am until 11 am. Pastor Randall Riley will be officiating the funeral service at 11 o’clock.

Darlene A. Hunter

1939 – 2016

Darlene K. HunterWarren - Darlene Kirsch Hunter, of Warren, OH, passed away with her daughters and sister at her side on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Northside Hospital in Youngstown, OH following a brief illness.  She was 77.
 
Darlene was born March 26, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA the daughter of the late Joseph and Armella Coulter Kirsch.
 
She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1957 and was a Pittsburgh area resident for many years before moving to Ohio in 1979.
 
She was united in marriage to Lawrence N. Hunter on December 31, 1966, who passed away in February, 1998. Besides her husband, Darlene is preceded in death just three weeks ago by her long-time companion, Frank Havrila of Youngstown on November 7, 2016.
 
Darlene was a loyal employee at Goodwill Industries in Youngstown Ohio 24 years. She worked as a Transportation Specialist and retired at the age of 74.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
 
Darlene is survived by her children, Armella DiOrio, Alida Hunter and Michael (Sue) Hunter all of Charlotte, NC; 4 grandchildren, Bailey and Elizabeth Hunter; and Gabriella and Kendal DiOrio. In addition, Darlene is survived by her sisters, Jeanne (Ray) Schwoeble, Renee Burke and her brother, Joseph (Karen) Kirsch all of Pittsburgh, PA.

Services for Darlene will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Crown Hill Mausoleum Chapel in Vienna, OH. The family will greet friends from 10am until 11am, with the funeral service to begin at 11 o’clock. Pastor Tom Badanjek will officiate. Friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon at Leo’s Ristorante, 7042 E. Market St. in Warren, at 1:00 pm.

Robert E. Haftman

1939 – 2016

Robert E. HaftmanWarren – Robert E. Haftman of Warren, OH, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Andover Village Nursing Home, Andover, OH. He was 85.
 
Robert was born May 30, 1931 in Richeyville, PA, the son of the late Henry and Anna Marcovitch Haftman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Republic Steel (WCI)  after 40 years as a Boiler Repairman. Robert was a member of Niles First Church of the Nazarene for many years. 
 
He was united in marriage to Ileen Murphy Haftman on November 15, 1952, who passed away on January 5, 2005.

Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He volunteered at his church and at the Warren Family Mission. He loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Indians. He also enjoyed the outdoors and liked camping, fishing and doing yardwork.

Robert is survived by two daughters, Millie Swartz of Niles and Roberta (Bret) Fleckenstein of Ashtabula; a brother, Donald of Richyville, PA; a sister, Delores Cheroki of Monessen, PA, and four grandchildren; Chase, Jordan, Aaron and Will.

He is preceded in death by three brothers; Henry, Bernie and Edward, and a sister, Lilian. 

Services for Robert will be held on Monday, December 5 , 2016 at the Crown Hill Mausoleum Chapel in Vienna, OH. The family will greet friends from noon until 1 PM. The funeral service will begin at 1:00, with Pastor Gary Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Niles Church of the Nazarene, 1822 Vienna Road, Niles, OH 44446.
