Robert L. Shick

1940 - 2015

 

Robert L. ShickNewton Falls - Robert L. Shick, 75, passed away at his          residence Sunday, November 1, 2015.

Robert was born September 11, 1940 in Warren, the son of Franklin and Margaret C. (Kellerman) Shick.

He was a graduate of Howland High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1964.

Robert was employed for 27 years as an electrician for American Welding, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Antique Tractor Club and the  Christian Motor Cycle Club.

His enjoyed Speedex Tractors, camping and wood working.

Robert leaves behind Eloise, his friend and mother of his children, daughters, Danielle (James) Bridenstine of Colebrook, OH, Donna (Craig) Cefalo of Girard, OH, Debra (Jeremy) Armer of Greenville, PA, and Diana (Gary) Beckett of Garrettsville, OH; a nephew and chosen son Eugene Shick, Jr. of Mecca and best friend, Nick Rieter. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Robert in death are brothers, Franklin Thomas, Byron Randall, Eugene Glenn and Phillip Roy; grandchildren, James Bridenstine, Jr. and Jessica Neely; a niece Jennifer Shick; and two nephews Bruce Shick and Randall Shick, Jr.

Services for Robert will be held at the Bristolville United Methodist Church, 6271 N. Park Ave. Bristolville, OH 44402, Saturday, November 7, 2015. Visitation will be from 11 am till 12 pm, with the memorial service to begin at 12 pm. Pastor Roger Norton will officiate.

The family requests that any contributions be sent to the Bristolville United Methodist Church.

Inurnment will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park.


 Frances Ann Giaurtis

1940 - 2015

Warren - Frances Ann Giaurtis, 74, of Warren, died Monday, November 2, 2015 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Frances was born November 18, 1940 in Warren, the daughter of Frank and Ester (Stitle) Painter.

She was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.

Frances was a 35 year employee of Packard Electric (Delphi) in Warren and later worked for Speedway Gas Station in Champion.

Frances was a loving and supportive mother, who devoted much of her time and energy caring for all the members of her family. She loved each one of her children unconditionally and uniquely, from the eldest to the youngest.

She and her loving companion, Dan, enjoyed many wonderful years together. Her interests included cooking, fishing, pottery and crocheting. She treasured memories of fun filled vacations with her family and companions. Mostly she loved her spontaneous excursions with her dedicated family and friends. She will be missed by her best friend, Dan Gelet, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her Kitty.

Frances leaves behind her companion of many years, Daniel Gelet; a son, James Giaurtis of Warren; daughters, Victoria A. (Robert) Jeffers of Gustavus, Darlene Y. (Charles) Brown of Warren, and Virginia Jean Giaurtis Shaffer of Champion; a brother, Donald Painter of Youngstown; sisters, Rose White of Lordstown and Arlene Davis of Rootstown. Also left behind to cherish her memories are seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Frances in death were her parents.

Services for Frances will be held Thursday, November 5, at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna. Visitation will be from 12 pm to 1 pm, with the funeral service at 1 pm. Pastor Ron Spore will be officiating.

Burial will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park.



 

 Ardis E. Ellenberger

1925 - 2015

 

Cortland - Ardis E. Ellenberger, 90, died Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Cortland Healthcare Center.

Ardis was born October 24, 1925 in Tyrone, PA, the daughter of Edgar C. and Laura E. (Clites) Kustenbauder.

Ardis was an employee of the Ravenna Arsenal and later at Warren General Hospital as a ward clerk, retiring in 1982.

She married Robert E. Ellenberger March 10, 1945. Robert died in        October of 1999.

Ardis leaves behind a son, Gary of Austin, TX; two daughters, Sharell (Raymond) Dulin of Newton Falls and Karen Letner of Virginia Beach, VA; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A brother, Charles Kustenbauder, a sister, Jane Morrissey and a granddaughter, Jenifer Dulin preceded Ardis in death.

Visitation for Ardis will be held Thursday, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm, at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna. Pastor John Eastman will officiate.

Burial will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park.

The family requests that any contributions be sent to the American Heart Association, 840 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, OH 44514.

Warren C. Funk

1930 - 2015

 

Warren C. FunkLinesville , PA - Warren C. Funk, 85, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Rolling Fields Nursing Home in Conneautville, PA.

Warren was born September 19, 1930 in Leavittsburg, the son of Ezra and Della (Manear) Funk.

He was a graduate of Lincoln Correspondence School.

A former resident of Cortland, Warren served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict, in which he earned a Purple Heart and the Korean Service Medal.

He worked as a tool and die maker for Peerless Electric-H.K. Porter in Warren, retiring in 1990.

Warren was a past commander of the D.A.V. and V.F.W. and holder of other offices and service organizations.

He married the former Lena McGrady on January 8, 1954.

Warren’s passion was his dedication to service members past and present. He was always there to volunteer his time, whether placing flags on graves, raising money or lobbying for Veterans Rights. He wanted to bring awareness to the public that freedom wasn’t free, and he did this with passion and zeal all his post military life.

Warren leaves behind his wife, Lena; a son, Leonard Paul and wife, Christine, of Parma; daughters, Barbara Eshbaugh of Linesville, PA, Kathy and husband, Ron, Ziems of Largo, FL and Frances and husband, Tom Santarelli of Linesville, PA; sisters, Ila Hrenko of Perry, OH and Grace Petiya of Warren. Also surviving Warren are 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Daughters, Shirley Williams and Laurie Funk; brothers, Ezra Funk, Jr. and James Funk; and a sister, Margaret Owens preceded Warren in death.

Visitation for Warren will be held Monday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with the funeral service to begin at 1:00 pm, at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna.

Burial will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park.

The family requests that any donations be given to D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans) Chapter 11 of Warren, 2044 Youngstown Rd. SE, Warren, OH 44484.

Gerald L. Dennison

1946 - 2015

 

Gerald DennisonMineral Ridge - Gerald L. Dennison, 68, died Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Vista at the Ridge.

Gerald was born in Warren, on November 17, 1946, the son of E.D. and Velma (Shaver) Dennison.

He was employed by Youngstown Steel Door and T.C.T.C.

Gerald married the former Donna L. Carpenter April 30, 1982.

He was a hard working man who was devoted to his wife and family.

He enjoyed fishing and tinkering in the garage, and is lovingly known as “Mr. Fix It”. He is truly loved and will be deeply missed.

Surviving Gerald is his wife of 33 years, Donna L. Dennison; his sons, Jery Lee of Hampton, VA and Matthew Whiddon of Warren; daughters, Dawn Harrington of Warren, Crystal Pankuch of Bluffton, SC, Susan Knox of Warren, Angela Dennison of Warren and Charity Kuhn; his brothers, Darrell and Dale Dennison; sisters Patricia Bayus, Linda Lawrence and Donna Stone. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Brothers Charles and William; sister Jean Smith and a grandchild Bryce Whiddon preceded Gerald in death.

Services for Gerald will be held on Wednesday. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm, at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna.

Entombment will take place in Crown Hill Burial Park

Shirley M. Ambrose

1944 - 2015

Shirley AmbroseHowland - Shirley M. Ambrose, 71, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015, at the    Cleveland Clinic, after a long illness while waiting for a liver transplant.

Shirley was born April 15, 1944 in Somerset, PA, the daughter of Charles and Stella (Tinky) Judy.

A graduate of Niles High School, Shirley was employed at Kings Jewelers at the Eastwood Mall, retiring after 30 years in sales.

Shirley married Carl Denny in 1990.

Shirley was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She leaves behind two daughters, Joleen Beach of Niles and Valeria (Brian) Siler of Mineral Ridge; a step-daughter, Autumn Ambrose of Leesburg, VA; sisters, Lou Romsberg of FL and Nancy Anthony of Warren. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Rachael Hudak of SC and Kiersten Siler of Mineral Ridge.

A brother, Melvin Judy, and sister, Pat Lawrence, preceded Shirley in death.

Visitation for Shirley will be held Thursday from 4 to 6 pm, with the memorial service to begin at 6 pm, at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna. Pastor Cathy Ake will officiate.

Lois G. Shaw

1933 - 2015

 

Lois ShawWarren - Lois G. Shaw, 82, of Warren, died Saturday, November 28, 2015, in Springboro, Ohio.

Lois was born March 5, 1933, in West Middlesex, PA, the daughter of  William T. and Corinne (Gilkey) Germond.

She was a graduate of Brookfield High School.

Lois was a homemaker and was employed by GATX and Packard Electric.

Her husband of many years, Norman D. Shaw, passed away in 2008.

Lois leaves behind two sons, Dean (Robin) Shaw of Cincinnati, OH and Bruce W. (Sandra) Shaw of Chicago, IL; a daughter Kim (Scott) Stanforth of Springboro, OH; a brother, Jake Germond of Valencia, CA; two sisters, Bonnie Goncz of Hermitage, PA and Gail Uber of Brookfield, OH. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Brothers, Thomas and Bill, preceded Lois in death.

Private services to be held at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna .

Lois dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and will be greatly missed.
