Girard - Private services were held for John William Meltz, 60, of Girard, who passed away at his home.
Mr. Meltz was born on September 25, 1950 in Youngstown the son of John and Josephine Rood Check.
He was a U.S. Marine veteran serving as a supply sergeant during the Vietnam era.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Linda Meltz of Thief River Falls, MN and Peggy (Chuck) Eaton of Mineral Bluff, Ga; and three grandchildren.
His parents preceded him in death.

Bertha Mary Cupp

Vienna - Private services were held for Bertha Mary Cupp, 92, formerly of Outer Drive, who passed away Friday January 8, 2010. Mrs. Cupp was born on April 22, 1917 in Hubbard the daughter of George and Bertha Berick Hasick. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Peggy Terna of Warren; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her parents; husband, Clair Cupp; son, Norman Cupp; six brothers; and two sisters; preceded her in death. Arrangements were handled by Selby Simpson Funeral Home, Vienna.
Joseph M. DePaola

Leavittsburg - Joseph M. DePaola, 96, of Leavittsburg, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Washington Square Nursing Center. Joseph was born April 5, 1913 in Cleveland, OH, the son of Vincent DePaola and Christina Fiorelli DePaola. A graduate of Bristolville High School, Joseph attended Ohio State University. Joseph was employed for 35 years as a Steelworker for Copperweld Steel, retiring in 1972. Joseph was a member of the Carol F. Clapp Masonic Lodge #655. In his free time, Joseph enjoyed fishing. all sports, camping and traveling. He also built and remodeled houses for many years. He married Gladys E. DePaola on June 28, 1939. Gladys passed away April 27, 1996. He leaves to cherish his memory a son Vincent L. (Pat) DePaola of Louisville, KY, and a daughter, Marylin (Pete) Runtas of Leavittsburg, 13 Grandchildren and 27 Great Grandchildren. Preceding Joseph in death include his wife; his parents, a stepson, Stanley Hettinger whom he raised, a brother, Michael Depaola; and two sisters, Marie and Phyllis DePaola. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with the funeral service to at 12:00 pm, at Crown Hill Burial Park Chapel in Vienna, Oh. Entombment will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park. Services were entrusted to Selby-Simpson Funeral Home.
