Richard W. Smith
 
1960 - 2012


Richard W. SmithHowland - Richard W. Smith, 51, of Howland Township, died at his residence Saturday, June 2, 2012.

Richard was born December 14, 1960, in Warren, the son of Lewis and Alma (Palm) Smith.

He was a 1979 graduate of Howland High School and a lifelong area resident.

Richard was a steelworker. He enjoyed football and was a Chicago Bears fan. He loved NASCAR and worked in pit crews for stock car events at Sharon Speedway.

Richard leaves behind his mother, Alma Smith of Howland; his daughter, Shauntella Smith of Negley, Ohio; his aunt, Janet (William) Maffitt of Howland; his best friends, Billy and Trisha Shreve, and several cousins.

Richard’s father, Lewis Smith; his son, Re’Shaun Smith; his brothers, Lewis Jr. and Robert Smith; and his grandmother, Pearl Shreves, preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 6, at 10:00 AM, at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna.

Burial will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park

Margaret J. Reisinger

1926 - 2012


Brookfield - Margaret J. Reisinger, 86, died Monday, June 11, 2012 at her residence.

Margaret was born March 3, 1926, in Verona, PA, the daughter of Jay and Ella (Shoop) Southworth.

She married Ernest R. Reisinger, March 18, 1947. He passed away May 20, 2001.

Margaret had been a registered nurse. She loved to play the organ and enjoyed participating in church plays.

Margaret leaves behind two daughters, Carol Hall of Brookfield and Diana Martinez of San Dimas, CA; a son, David of LaVerne, CA; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Margaret’s parents, husband, Ernest; a daughter, Darla Meacham; two brothers; a sister; and one granddaughter, Amy Reisinger preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna.

Burial will take place in Crown Hill Burial Park

Edwin L. McMullen

1923 - 2012

Edwin L. McMullenMesa - Edwin L. McMullen, 88, died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Banner Dessert Medical Center in Mesa, AZ.

Edwin was born June 23, 1923 in Youngstown, the son of Frank and Blanche McMullen.

He was a graduate of Youngstown Rayen High School.

Edwin retired from U.S. Steel as a metallurgist.

He was an avid photographer and a member of the East Ohio Lapidary Club, Warren Camera Club, the Mesa Camera Club and a lifetime member of the Photographic Society of America.

Survivors include his niece, Rebecca (John) Whitman of Hartford; nine grandchildren, Tammy (Christopher) Paveloi, Lynne (Josh) Schultz, Leslie, Whitney, Allyssa, Suzannah, Charity, Andrew and Alexander McMullen and six great grandchildren.

A wife, Jane A. (Potts) McMullen, preceded him in death in December of 2003 and a son, David McMullen in 2009.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Marty and Linda, who cared for Edwin in Mesa, AZ.

The visitation will be Friday, at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna.

Entombment will take place in Crown Hill Burial Park.The family requests that any donations be sent to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, 545 Brunstetter Rd. SW, Warren, OH  44481, or to the American Diabetes Association,  1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.

Shirley Thorpe

1925 - 2012 


Shirley ThorpeGirard - Shirley Thorpe, 87, formerly of Girard entered into her eternal life peacefully with her family by her side on June 26, 2012 at the Hospice House in Poland.

Shirley was born on February 19, 1925 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Norman and Dorothy Giering.

She worked at Truscon Steel as a welder of tank treads during World War II. After the war Shirley worked at Mermosh Garage Doors until she was married and became a homemaker. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Her dedication to her family was endless.

Shirley was a member of Pleasant Valley Church for many years and most recently a member of the Liberty Assembly of God. She was an active member of her parish, participating in both the Choir and Bell Choir and volunteering in numerous church programs.

Shirley loved to travel with her husband, she also enjoyed singing and dancing and just mention cards and she was at the table ready to play. But most of all she enjoyed all the time she spent with her friends and family.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory her husband Burt of 54 years whom she married November 2, 1957. Also her two sons, Barry (Nancy) McMahan of Youngstown, Robert (Cindy) McMahan of Seattle, WA., a daughter Sherry (Don) Grant of Indiana, two step-sons Richard (Janice) Thorpe of Cleveland, Jeff Thorpe of Girard, two brothers, Vincent Giering of North Lima and William Giering of Florida, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by an infant son, Ralph Jr., a brother Robert Giering, Granddaughter Tina Woods and a Grandson, Stanley Herubin.

Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Freedom Place Church formerly known as the Liberty Assembly of God Church on Belmont Avenue.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at the church with calling hours one hour prior to the service.

Shirley will be laid to rest at the Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made in Shirley’s name, to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrot Rd.  Poland, OH 44514,

The family would like to thank the staff at the Hospice House for the loving care and support to Shirley and her family during her stay.

Diana L. Anderson

1948 - 2012


Anderson 
Bristolville - Diana L. Anderson, 63, of Bristolville passed to eternal rest on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at her home, after courageously battling a long term illness.

She was born August 9, 1948 in Cameron, W. VA, the daughter of Lorraine Goudy.

Diana worked at Delphi Packard Electric for 30 years, retiring in 1999.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Diana loved and trusted in the Lord and knew that He would never give her more than she could handle.

Diana was an avid bingo player, loved garage sales, and one of her biggest hobbies was watching NASCAR and being part of the Earnhardt Nation. She will always be remembered by her loving heart and the kindness and generosity she showed to her family, friends, and everyone that she met.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Anderson, mother, Lorraine Goudy of Moundsville, W. VA, brothers, Leroy Hartzel of Moundsville, W. VA, and Tommy Hartzel of Hubbard; a sister, Hazel Midcap; a daughter Rhonda (Thomas) Neely of East Claridon, OH; a son, Dale Anderson Jr. of Howland; granddaughters, Stephanie Carter and Hannah Anderson; and a step-grandson, Chase Guerrero.

Diana was proceeded in death by her brother, Roger Lee Mellon.

In lieu of lowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to the Bristolville Fire Department EMT units.

Calling hours will take place on Monday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, with the funeral service at 3:00 pm, at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna.
