Robert E. Franks

1924 - 2011

Robert FranksRobert E. Franks, 86, died Sunday, November 6, 2011, at his residence.
 
Robert was born November, 30, 1924 in Warren, the son of Leland and Cleo (Rupert) Franks.
 
He served in the US Army as an x-ray technician in Waco, TX.
 
Robert received a Bachelor’s degree from GMI and was an engineer at Packard Electric for 45 years. His work and innovations in the wiring industry made him one of the most prominent in his area of expertise. Robert was also highly thought of in the Wire Association.
 
A life long area resident, Robert enjoyed golf, flying, was an avid race fan and was active in the Drum and Fiddle Dance Club. He was the ultimate handyman, and friends called on him to fix everything.
 
Robert was a member and former deacon of the First Presbyterian Church.
 
Robert loved his family, grandchildren and many friends. This year he celebrated 62 years of marriage to his wife Maxine.
 
Besides his wife, Maxine (McKay) Franks, Robert leaves behind his three sons, Robert S. Franks of Ft. Lauderdale, William L. (Jeanette) Franks of Warren and James D. (Lisa) Franks of Cortland; his brother, Rupert Franks of NY.; his sister, Jane Franks of Warren; and his grandchildren, Gibbons, Robert and Natalie Franks.
 
Robert’s parents and brother, Leland, preceded him in death.
 
Calling hours will be Thursday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with the funeral service at 1:00 pm at Roberts-Clark Funeral Home in Warren. Pastor Dan Barker will officiate.
 
Burial will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
 
Selby Funeral Home handled the arrangements.



Eloise C. Garner

1925 - 2011

Eloise C. GarnerEloise C. Garner, 86, of Cortland, died Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital from complications of dementia.
 
Born September 10,1925 in Cortland, Eloise was the daughter of Delma Milhoan and Emmett Cross and resided in Cortland most of her life. 
 
A 1943 graduate of Bristolville High School, Eloise went to work at Ohio Lamp, later working at Sparkle Market in Cortland. 
 
She married the love of her life, Robert Garner, on August 14, 1954. 
 
Eloise enjoyed camping with the Good Sam Happy Travelers and Smoke Dodgers, was a member of the Four Seasons Garden Club, enjoyed playing cards, and traveling. 
 
Her family was the joy of her life,and she will be deeply missed by her four children, Robert (Sue) Garner and Connie (Jack) Mills of Warren, Jamie (Tom) Hillier of Bazetta, and Cindy (Kevin) Granger of Reynoldsburg. Eloise had 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
 
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Edward J. Cross.
 
Private services will be held on Saturday, November 19, with burial at Crown Hill Burial Park

  William W. Jones

1928 - 2011

William W. JonesWARREN - William R. Jones, 83, of Warren passed away early Monday morning, Nov. 21, 2011, at his residence.

William was born Feb. 25, 1928, in Warren, the son of the late Russell and Viva Eastlake Jones.

He retired from Copperweld Steel as a roller after 35 years of service and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII.

Bill was an avid golfer and belonged to Bristolwood Golf Course and also was a past governor of Cortland Moose Lodge #1012 and Farmington VFW Post 7200.

His wife, Dorothy, preceded him in death, along with a son William R. Jones and a sister Edith Pipenauer.

Surviving are two daughters, Wanda Jones Shadix of Georgia and Brenda Jones of California; and a sister, Ella Fillyaw of Florida; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves his companion of 20 years, Lawanna (Lou) Osborne of Warren.
Extended family also include John and Marylou Osborne, Melinda and Mark Tricker and Carla and Alex Papiernik and families.

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at Crown Hill Masoleum Chapel, where friends may call 11 a.m to noon on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are being accepted in Bill's memory to the Hope Center for Cancer, 835 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, Ohio 44514.
