Theodore J. Moran

1913 - 2011

Howland - Theodore J. Moran, Sr. 97, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland.
 
Mr. Moran was born November 7, 1913 in Sharpsville, PA, the son of Dominic and Mary Moran.
 
He was a graduate of Sharon High School.
 
Mr. Moran served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a prisoner of war and survived the Bataan Death March in the Philippines. Mr. Moran was awarded the Bronze Star on Veteran's Day in 2009.
 
He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Church.
 
Mr. Moran leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Beatrice (Yannesse) Moran, on January 12, 1951; a son, Theodore (Nancy) Moran, Jr. of Cincinnati; a daughter, Cindy (Jay) Gilson of Bazetta; two sisters, Elizabeth Goodrich of Cleveland, OH and Mary Jane Moran of Sharon; grandchildren, Brian Gilson of Nashville, TN, Jenna Gilson of Bazetta and Michael Moran on Cincinnati.
 
Preceding Mr. Moran in death are four brothers, Carmelo, Mike, Pat and Joe Moran; a sister Rose Moran.
 
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 - 7 pm at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Vienna, at 10 am Thursday morning.

Burial will take place in Crown Hill Burial Park.



 
Raleigh Evans Edwards

1933 - 2011

Warren - Raleigh Evans Edwards, 77, died Tuesday afternoon, January 4, 2011, at Imperial Skilled Care Center in Warren.
 
Raleigh was born January 5, 1933 in Ravenna, OH, the son of the late Thomas and Elva (Stowe) Edwards.
 
Raleigh was raised in Freedom, Ohio and later lived in Mantua, Garrettsville and Warren.
 
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
 
Raleigh is survived by his son, Michael (Eileen) Edwards of Ravenna; a daughter, Shelly Edwards of Fairfax, VA; granddaughters, Joanna (Nathaniel) Beres of Copley and Mallory (Brett) Capstick of Clarksville, TN; sisters, June Dalton of Garrettsville and Martha Adams of Brimfield, OH.
 
Raleigh was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harris, Dale, and Larry; and sisters, Ruth Raskov and Juanita Horner.
 
Calling hours will be Friday, January 7, from 6 to 8pm at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum , 3966 Warren-Sharon Rd. Vienna, OH. 44473.
 
A private funeral service will held.
 
 Burial will take place in Crown Hill Burial Park.



John A. Mechling

1934 - 2011

 
Mr. Mechling Niles - John A. Mechling, 77, of Niles, died at his home Saturday January 29, 2011, after a long illness.
 
He was born January 5, 1934 in Youngstown, the son of Doyle and Elizabeth (Harman) Mechling.
 
Mr. Mechling worked as a welder-fitter at American Engineering for many years, before becoming a painter and working as maintenance.
 
He was a member at Tod Ave. United Methodist Church in Warren.
 
He loved watching NASCAR and old movies and working part time driving dump trucks hauling slag for his friends. He also enjoyed fishing and walking his dog and working on cars.
 
He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Wanda M. Mechling and his faithful loyal dog, Daisy; five children, Darrell Mechling, Susan Wolf, Sarah Durst and Wendy Emmert, all of Niles and Paula Smith of Warren; Twelve grandchildren, Nicole, Robert, Dustin, Joseph, Sabrina, Errin, Bobby, Kaitlin, Benny Joe, Shawnee, Austin and Jimmy; five great grandchildren, Madison, Hannah, Devon, Roman, Leigha, plus Ambree, due in March; two sisters, Ruth Satterfield of Austintown, Edna McGuane of Jacksonville, Florida; three brothers, Jay (Ruth) Mechling of Austintown, Harold (Debbie) Mechling of Newton Falls, and Doyle (Rebecca) Mechling of Jacksonville, Florida.
 
Preceding him in death are his parents, a granddaughter, Melissa and a great granddaughter Kaylie; three sisters, Marge Sutton, Beulah Yurkus, and Edith Mitterbrink; four brothers, William, Robert, David and James Mechling.
 
Calling hours will be from 10:00 am, Wednesday, February 2 at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum, in Vienna, with the funeral service at 11:00 am. The Reverend Mark Vincent will officiate.
 
Many thanks goes to all those who continued to pray for John.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to assist with final expenses.
